Creating Moving Miracles

Have you ever stopped to think about what kind of life you really want to have? A few months ago, I realized that I just wasn't happy living in the same place forever, which is why I started thinking carefully about what I needed to do in order to move across the country. I realized that it was going to be a difficult thing to do, but at the same time, I knew that it was important for my well-being. This blog is all about making the right decisions so your moving process won't be a burden. Check out these posts to find out more.

Cleanliness Standards For Self Storage Units

Do you detest filth? Do you have a few pristine linens or perfect portraits that absolutely cannot be stained? Cleanliness is no small feat, and a lack of grubby hands within a storage unit is hardly an immunity against grime. Before placing your valuable in storage, consider a few problem areas and their solutions to keep everything as clean as the day you retired them in a professional facility.

Look Beyond The Initial Cleaning

It is understandable to make a surfaces and corners inspection when you first visit a storage facility. The unit needs to be clean not only to make less work for you, but to show that there aren't any chronic cleaning problems to worry about. Dust is fine if the unit hasn't been used in months or years, but peeling paint and stains are not to be tolerated.

That said, you need to look beyond the white glove inspection and into the cleaning habits of staff members, as well as any customers you encounter. What kind of equipment do they use? What kind of debris is coming out? Do some of the customers seem to need heavy cleaning on a regular basis, and is it because of the storage units or their own property?

Don't be afraid to ask other customers, as they will usually be more than willing to warn you away once the conversation starts or encourage you to give money to a great business.

Air Conditioning As Dust And Pollution Control

If you want less trouble when it comes to cleaning away dust, make sure that the facility's air conditioning system meets thorough cleaning standards.

The type of filter is important, but the "strongest" filter is not necessarily the best. There are many different filters that are used to remove certain airborne particles, and it may be impractical to use some of the heavier filters.

High efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters are an example of a high, attractive standard that is terrible for many businesses. The filters are strict, but the more strict the filter, the weaker the airflow and the higher the air conditioning wear and tear. Instead, a pleated media filter that can keep out dust and local factor and vehicle pollutants such as smog is a better choice.

If you need higher filtration standards, installing a standalone air filter would be a wiser choice. Many storage facilities include electrical outlets either as part of the lease or as an added fee, which will allow you to add your own air filters, dehumidifiers, or other devices.

Contact a storage facility, such as Security Self Storage, to discuss their cleanliness standards, and arrange an appointment as soon as possible to begin protecting your valuables while enhancing your personal space.
